| March is the start of spring. Days are getting longer and
warmer, and daffodils and other flowers are starting
to bloom. The Welsh and the Irish celebrate its patron
saint, St David and St Patrick respectively. Events:
Crufts, the famous annual British dog show; Rugby's "Six
Nations Championship"
continues; and Mother's Day. The Spring Equinox occurs on 20 March,
in which the day and night are each 12 hours. "British Summer
time"
starts on 26 March, in which clocks forward 1 hour. March is the third
month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar. In
ancient Rome, March was called Martius, so named after the Roman god
of war and was considered a lucky time to begin a war. Flowers: Daffodils,
